Karen Turner

Title: Project Coordinator
Email: karen.turner@iwk.nshealth.ca

Karen has been working for the Centre as a Research Assistant part-time since March 2006. Her first experience with the Centre was working for Drs. Lois Jackson and Anita Unruh on their projects for Women's Health in Rural Communities. This position offered her the opportunity to travel to rural communities speaking to women about their experiences living, working and raising families in small communities. She has often been inspired by these women's stories of the challenges and benefits of rural living and feels fortunate to have been involved in this project.

Karen is currently involved with the Managing Our Mood (MOM) Research Program, studying a distance therapy treatment for moms suffering from postpartum depression. She finds it very rewarding to be working to help moms with postpartum depression, and to be given the opportunity to help break down some of the barriers women face when seeking help for mental health issues. She looks forward to the conclusion of the study and the beginning of MOM as a service offered to all moms in need.
