Kim has been with the Pain in Infants at Risk for Neurological Impairment Group (PINI) since its inception at the IWK in 2000. After 20 years of nursing infants and families in the NICU at the Grace Maternity and IWK, she was ready for a change and found the PINI project a perfect fit, keeping her working with the same population of patients.
Besides the PINI study, she has added other studies involving alternative comfort measures such as Therapeutic Touch, Kangaroo Mothercare/Fathercare and Co-bedding Comfort for Twins. She was co-ordinator for the Domperidone clinical trial as well as Co-bedding Regulation for Twins in NICU. In addition to her research, she was part of the team which developed an information booklet for parents in NICU, assisted with the implementation of the workload measurement system and has taught courses for new nurses orientating to the NICU.
